The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova signed a resolution “On measures to prevent influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in the 2022-2023 epidemic season.” The document prescribes to strengthen preventive measures, in particular, to vaccinate against influenza at least 60% of the population. “To ensure, by December 1, 2022, that at least 60% of the population of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation, at least 75% of the number of people belonging to risk groups defined by the national calendar, be covered with preventive influenza vaccinations,” the resolution says.
Regional authorities are also encouraged to:
- provide medical organizations with material resources;
- additionally deploy the required number of infectious beds;
- train health workers on the provision of special medical care.
According to the latest published data The weekly national bulletin on influenza and SARS, in the period from 13 to 19 June in Russia, the number of cases of influenza was 2408 people. The highest incidence for 2022 was registered in January-February, it reached 5477 cases.
The decision was signed against the backdrop of an increase in the number of cases of coronavirus infection. Since the beginning of August, there has been an increase in detected cases of COVID-19. The maximum since March 14 was revealed on August 20 – a little more than 40 thousand. Today, August 22, registered 33 thousand sick.
