The President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, said that he is categorically against blue cards. The initiative is being discussed at the International Football Association Board (IFAB).
“FIFA is categorically against blue cards. Red card for blue card. No way,” Mr. Infantino said. His comment was quoted by Sky News journalist Rob Harris on the X social network.
According to The Telegraph newspaper, today, March 2, IFAB plans to consider the issue of introducing blue cards. It is expected that players will be sent off the field for 10 minutes for excessive arguments with the referees and tactical violations. Two blue cards equate to a deletion. They wanted to test the innovations in women’s and youth football and in lower league competitions. It has been claimed that the FA are ready to introduce blue cards next season.
