The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, following the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, criticized the actions of law enforcement officers who raided a prayer house in Kotelniki near Moscow. According to the head of Dagestan, such actions “can cast a shadow” on the entire structure. In response to the claims of the audience, one of them said that “the police officer is fulfilling his powers.” After that, representatives of the Muslim community in the Moscow region wrote down an appeal to President Vladimir Putin, which they asked to sort it out.

Mufti Rushan Abbyasov, head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Moscow Region, told Kommersant that the raid was carried out during Friday prayers on July 7. According to him, during a prayer in one of the premises rented by a local religious organization of Muslims, OMON officers broke in, they did not allow the prayer to be completed, they behaved very rudely.

Kirill Kabanov, a member of the Human Rights Council, said the conflict stemmed from complaints from local residents that a religious organization was in a residential building. At the same time, the Interior Ministry told Kommersant that the police had nothing to do with the incident.
