Sochi hockey players in the last match of 2022 lost at home to Dynamo Moscow with a score of 3:5. At the press conference, Leopards coach Sergey Svetlov summed up the results of the game and the whole year.
1 minute and 12 seconds before the end of regular time, the Sochi team reduced the gap to the 1st one puck (3:4) thanks to a goal from Andrey Fedorov. At this moment, the hosts had 6 field players on the ice, as they removed the goalkeeper. Then the Leopards continued to attack with six of them, but conceded the fifth goal – Dynamo player Kirill Gotovets sent it into the empty net.
“The guys had a decent game. There was a struggle on the ice, everything was thin. We fought until the last seconds, but at the decisive moment we conceded into an empty net. I am satisfied with the game, but it is a pity that we were left without points, – Sergey Svetlov summed up the results of the meeting.
During the match, the Leopards made 24 shots on target, and the Dynamo team – 45. The hosts received 8 penalty minutes, and the guests – 10.
The Sochi mentor noted that the team has a large number of young players.
– Even if today they do not show the result that we expect, but their progress is visible. The guys don’t give up. They have a good outlook.
The Leopards are in last 11th place in the Western Conference standings. After 44 games they have 18 points. Dynamo is 5th in the West with 59 tournament points. Ahead of the Black Sea team is a meeting on January 3 in Nizhny Novgorod against Torpedo, which occupies 4th place in the conference.
– We are professionals and do not think about what happened yesterday. We have to go out on the ice and play good hockey. This game is for spectators. And we will make every effort to justify the trust of our fans, – said Sergei Svetlov.
