The governor of the Tyumen region warned about the risk of dam failure on the Ishim River

In the Tyumen region, due to rising water levels in the Ishim River, a dam break is possible, said the head of the region, Alexander Moor. In the Kazan and Ishim districts, as well as in the city of Ishim, which fall into the flood zone, announced urgent evacuation of the population.
In early April, as Alexander Moor recalled, hydrologists predicted that the water level in the Ishim River during the flood period would exceed the historical maximum. However, yesterday, April 15, the forecast was clarified. “It is reported that the water level will be even higher – significantly higher. In this scenario, the number of flooded settlements increases, and they promise a lot of water. The likelihood of dams breaking or overflowing is growing,” the governor said in a video message published in his Telegram-channel.
Since the beginning of April, floods have already affected 34 Russian regions. There is a state of emergency in the Tyumen region introduced April 8. On April 11, at a meeting with the president, Mr. Moore toldthat 51 settlements, 1,847 residential buildings, 7,291 people and about 2 thousand farm and domestic animals fall into the zone of probable flooding.
