Governor of the Orenburg Region Denis Pasler is holding a meeting with an initiative group of protesters who today, April 8, went to Komsomolskaya Square in Orsk due to the flood situation. At the meeting, the governor assured that all victims would receive payments; funds for compensation have already been allocated.

“To date, 649 citizens have received payments in the region. This week we plan to pay 16 thousand people,” Mr. Pasler told the initiative group (quoted by TASS). The estimate of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation, according to which damage to infrastructure from floods in the Orenburg region amounts to 21 billion rubles, takes into account the number of houses, their area and cost, the governor noted.

Payments for utilities in flooded areas will not be charged, Denis Pasler said, and the loans of those affected by the flood will be restructured. The implementation of this decision will be monitored by supervisory and investigative authorities. When asked what to do for those who “lost everything completely,” the governor replied: “They will receive full compensation.” Residents of Orsk who left their homes due to the flood and are not placed in temporary temporary accommodation will be able to receive 10 thousand rubles. per month for six months, he added.

“Of course, the easiest way is to find one culprit. From the first day I have been here with you, without sleeping, washing, or changing clothes. For the first time in five years I took a vacation and didn’t go. I came and are with you all these days. Many Orchans have already bought boats, are finding money to feed and water their own people, and there are a huge number of such people,” said Denis Pasler.

Today, April 8, on Komsomolskaya Square to the Orsk Administration building came out several hundred people. They complain about the ineffectiveness of the authorities’ measures to minimize losses from the flood, about the insufficient amount of compensation and demand the resignation of the mayor of Orsk Vasily Kozupitsa. The head of the city addressed the protesters, after which an initiative group was organized to discuss issues with local authorities.

On April 5, due to heavy flooding in Orsk, a bulk dam on the Ural River broke. 4.3 thousand houses, in which about 11 thousand people live, fell into the flood zone. Affected residents of Orsk will receive payments in the amount of 20 thousand rubles, and in case of loss of property – from 50 thousand to 100 thousand rubles.
