The funds were allocated from the government reserve fund. The money will be received by Yakutia, Altai, Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk territories, Amur, Kurgan, Magadan, Sverdlovsk, Tomsk and Tyumen regions, as well as the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. The government claims that when extinguishing fires in the spring and summer, the costs of these entities “exceeded previously allocated budget funding.”
“In order to cope with the disaster and reduce risks for residents and settlements, an emergency regime was introduced in some territories, rescue units were involved, and automobile and aviation equipment was used,” the Cabinet of Ministers press release clarifies.
At the end of May, the Ministry of Emergency Situations stated on stabilizing the situation with wildfires in Russia. Due to the fires, a state of emergency was introduced in the Kurgan, Omsk and Tyumen regions. In the Kurgan region, 21 people died as a result of fires.
