The Commission of the Council of Legislators on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Investments under the State Duma proposed that the government determine a research institute that will investigate the impact of computer games on children. In addition, it is assumed that this institute will conduct examinations of computer games. The proposal became known from the decision of the relevant commission, which leads TASS.

“Recommend to the government of the Russian Federation to identify an organization (research institute) that would carry out research on the impact of computer games on children’s health on an ongoing basis, develop proposals based on the results of such studies to minimize the impact of computer games on children and take part in the examination of computer games for children,” the commission’s decision reads.

The document also provides that, based on the results of the examination, the institute will identify “malicious and dangerous” computer games. The day before, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region Vladimir Kiselev (United Russia) spokethat the introduction of identification of users of computer games by analogy with the list of extremist materials is currently being discussed.
