The government proposed to oblige regional officials to report forced corruption

The Russian government has submitted a bill to the State Duma, according to which civil servants in the regions will be required to report on coercion to corruption. Document published in base bills.
According to the text of the document, civil servants will have to notify the prosecutor’s office or other authorized bodies if they are forced to commit corruption. The notification must be sent no later than five days after the incident.
“The draft law provides that for failure to fulfill this obligation, persons holding public positions in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation shall be liable under federal constitutional laws, federal laws and other regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation,” the explanatory note says.
According to the authors, the bill is aimed at “improving anti-corruption legislation” to counter corruption and minimize and eliminate corruption risks. The authors of the bill note that such norms already exist for the deputies of the legislative assemblies of the constituent entities of Russia. Parliamentarians are required to report incitement to corruption to the Revenue Integrity Commission in their region’s parliament.
