The Russian government has planned to establish mandatory consular registration of citizens of the country living abroad
The plan for the implementation of the concept of Russian state migration policy in 2024-2025 assumes that the country will have mandatory consular registration of citizens of the country living abroad.
According to the document, it is planned to define the concept of “citizen permanently residing outside the Russian Federation” and specify the legal status of such citizens.
Responsibility for the implementation of this point of the plan by June 20, 2025 is assigned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
