The Government of the Russian Federation has introduced a bill to the State Duma that would eliminate the duplication of powers between law enforcement agencies and supervisory authorities in relation to business. According to the document, verification activities should be carried out by relevant departments.
As reported by the Cabinet of Ministers, initially 46 offenses related to duplicating powers will be excluded from the Code of Administrative Offences, but law enforcement officers will retain the functions of “preventing violations with the possibility of initiating administrative cases” against individuals.
The government noted that the new bill is designed to eliminate situations in which “both control authorities and the police come to the business.”
