Latvian authorities legalize same-sex partnership
[ad_1]
The Latvian Seimas has adopted a package of bills that introduce a new legal institution in the country – partnership. The initiative was submitted to parliament by the Minister of Justice Inese Libinei-Egner.
According to the adopted laws, from July 1, 2024, partnership will be a way to legalize family relationships of couples, including same-sex ones. From this date, data on the conclusion and termination of a partnership will be entered into the register of individuals.
Lithuania remains the only country among the Baltic states where such legal regulation is absent, TASS notes.
