The Russian government has approved a list of therapeutic food products for children with disabilities expanded by nine positions for 2023. The order is published on the website of the government (.pdf). Now it has 103 positions.
Among the new items are therapeutic nutrition for children with phenylketonuria (a metabolic disorder of the amino acid phenylalanine), cystic fibrosis (damage to vital organs) and a metabolic disorder of fatty acids.

The list of therapeutic nutrition for children with disabilities is annually compiled by a commission organized by the Ministry of Health. It mainly consists of liquid and dry mixtures, which are purchased at the expense of the federal budget. Children with disabilities receive them free of charge with a doctor’s prescription.
