The Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Khakassia opened a criminal case against a 37-year-old local resident under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for terrorist activities). If the defendant’s guilt is proven, he may face a fine of 300 thousand to 1 million rubles. or imprisonment for a term of five to seven years.
“The man, using the profile of the page he administered on the social network VKontakte, regularly posted statements in one of the right-wing radical communities with calls for encroachment on the lives of politicians of the Russian Federation,” the FSB said in a statement.
The name of the defendant, who was released on his own recognizance, has not been released. According to state security authorities, this is a resident of the village of Kommunar, Shirinsky district. Sources told Kommersant that the man previously worked on a rotational basis at enterprises in the Krasnoyarsk Territory; by profession, he is a gas-electric welder.
The man appears in three more extremist criminal cases. These cases were initiated under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for extremist activities, maximum punishment – five years in prison), they deal with calls for violence against representatives of government bodies of the Russian Federation and immigrants from the Central Asian region.
