FSB officers identified a radio amateur who, in an artisanal way, set up the broadcasting of the Radio Liberty station (recognized as a foreign agent) in Lyubertsy near Moscow. He was charged under an administrative article on violation of the requirements for the use of the radio frequency spectrum.
“The offender made a homemade broadcasting radio transmitter and, without having the appropriate permission, organized periodic broadcasting of Radio Liberty content in the city of Lyubertsy, access to which is restricted based on the requirements of the Prosecutor General’s Office,” the FSB reported (quote from RIA Novosti).
The RIA Novosti agency published a video showing how one of the FSB officers on a cable descends from the roof to the apartment of a radio amateur. Now the issue of initiating a case against the man for spreading fakes about the Russian army is being decided.
In December 2022, in Vologda, 61-year-old stoker Vladimir Rumyantsev was sentenced to three years in prison, who disseminated information about hostilities in Ukraine through amateur radio. The radio station worked on transmitters from AliExpress. The man was found guilty under an article about spreading fakes about the Russian army based on political hatred. He became the first defendant under this article.
