The armored personnel carrier was sent to the Upper Lars checkpoint on the border with Georgia to maintain safety if the reservists break through the border. This was reported RBC in the Border Directorate of the FSB for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. The service noted that there are no restrictions on the departure of Russian citizens who are in reserve.

“The armored personnel carrier is moving there, but it is not moving to set up a checkpoint, it is, roughly speaking, a reserve just in case the reservists want to break through the checkpoint and leave the country without completing any border formalities. For this purpose only. No checkpoints will be set up… The checkpoint is operating normally, no restrictions on the exit of male citizens of military age have been introduced,” the press service said.

Earlier, Georgian opposition party deputy Nona Mamulashvili said that the government is going to close the Russian-Georgian border for Russian citizens from September 26, primarily for men aged 18 to 55.

After the partial mobilization announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russians began to leave the country. Queues began to form at the border with Georgia: on September 23 – about 2 thousand cars, on September 24 – about 2.3 thousand cars. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia recommended not to leave Russia through Upper Lars, and also announced the strengthening of traffic patrols at the border.
