The FSB announced the detention of the spouses in Nizhny Tagil on suspicion of spying for Ukraine

A married couple in Nizhny Tagil was detained for spying for Ukraine at a military-industrial complex enterprise. They were arrested under the article on treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This was reported in the press service of the FSB department for the Sverdlovsk region.

“As a result of a special operation in Nizhny Tagil, two citizens of Russia were detained, who transferred to the special services of Ukraine for a monetary reward information of a military-technical nature that could be used against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the context of a special military operation,” the FSB said in a statement.

The operatives conducted a search at the place of residence of the spouses. According to the FSB, “objects of espionage activity” were confiscated from the arrested.

The FSB also released a video of the interrogation of the arrested. In the video, a woman says that she acknowledges the transfer of drawings to the special services of Ukraine. According to her, she received about 100 thousand rubles for this.

Last week, on March 29, Evan Gershkovich, a journalist for The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), was arrested in Yekaterinburg. A criminal case was opened against him under the article on espionage (Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), he faces up to 20 years in prison. The FSB believes that Mr. Gershkovich “on the instructions of the United States was collecting information about one of the enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex, which constitutes a state secret.” March 30 by Evan Gershkovich arrested in Moscow until May 29, he is in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center.
