The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, said that the Russian FSB Directorate for the DPR, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the DPR and the Russian Guard conducted a migration check in Mariupol. Eight people were expelled from the country.

Migration checks have become more frequent after the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow on March 22. As part of the criminal case, 11 people were detained, including four alleged terrorists who have Tajik citizenship. Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the terrorist attack that using “tragic events” to provoke national hatred is unacceptable. At the same time, he noted that illegal migration is becoming “a breeding ground for extremist activity” and ordered a radical renewal of approaches to migration policy.
