Russia warns Greece of consequences and liability for breach of contract if Athens transfers Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, stated Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova at a regular briefing.
“All military equipment sent to Kyiv will be tracked in a timely manner and considered as a legitimate target for destruction. Before it’s too late, you can abandon dangerous plans. Once again we warn the Greek leadership of responsibility,” the diplomat said.
According to her, sending the S-300 can not only violate intergovernmental agreements, but also weaken the defense capability of Greece in the field of air defense.
Greek National Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos said earlier that the Greek government is ready to send S-300 air defense systems from Crete to Ukraine if the United States installs the Patriot system in their place. He clarified that in this case, the system will remain under the control of the Americans, since there is no talk of buying.
Zakharova also pointed out more than once that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.
