Josep Borrell, head of the European Union’s foreign policy service, in his statements about the grain deal and Russia, falsifies the facts, putting forward unfounded and untenable arguments. This statement was made by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

This is how the Russian diplomat commented on Borrell’s article, where he insists on the absence of a negative impact of European Union (EU) sanctions on global food security, on the critical role of Ukraine in ensuring it, and also puts the fight against Russian disinformation on this issue at the forefront.

“Borrel does not even bother with any serious substantiation of his position. He simply manipulates the facts, putting forward unfounded, obviously untenable arguments, ”said the director of the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to her, Borrell’s statements that the Russian Federation allegedly derived “significant benefits” from the second part of the grain deal – the Memorandum of Understanding with the UN, which did not work, are simply offered to be taken on faith.
