Shoigu: Poland plans to create a unit for the occupation of Western Ukraine

Warsaw expects to create a Polish-Ukrainian connection, the declared goal of which will be to ensure the security of Western Ukraine, but the real one is its occupation. About it declared Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at a meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Defense.

According to him, Poland has become the “main instrument of anti-Russian policy” of the United States, while Warsaw announced its intention to build “the most powerful army on the continent”, which carries risks for Russia’s security. Poland is already buying tanks, artillery and combat aircraft from the United States, Britain and South Korea, the minister added.

“In addition, there are plans to create on a regular basis the so-called Polish-Ukrainian connection supposedly to ensure the security of Western Ukraine, but in fact – for the subsequent occupation of this territory,” he said.

According to the Ministry of Defense, about 360,000 military personnel, 8,000 pieces of equipment and 650 aircraft and helicopters are stationed near the borders of the Union State, taking into account the troops of Eastern European countries. In total, the number of formations of non-regional NATO states has increased by 2.5 times since February 2022, exceeding 30,000 people.

“These threats to Russia’s military security require a timely and adequate response. We will discuss the necessary measures to neutralize them at the meeting and make appropriate decisions,” Shoigu concluded.

Earlier in July, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin to monitor Poland’s plans for Ukraine. The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service reported to the president that the leadership of Poland is intensifying its mood to impose control over the western territories of Ukraine. According to him, this can be framed as “the fulfillment of allied obligations within the framework of the Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian initiative in the field of security – this is the so-called Lublin Triangle.”

Putin noted that a regular military formation is being created, which can then be used for the “subsequent occupation of territories” in western Ukraine. “After all, the prospect is obvious – if the Polish units enter, for example, Lviv or other territories of Ukraine, then they will remain there. And they will remain forever,” the Russian leader noted.
