The football tournament “The Future Depends on You” helps orphans to find a family

On March 16 and 17, Moscow hosts the first regional stage of the open all-Russian football competition “The Future Depends on You”, in which teams from orphanages and boarding schools from different regions of the country compete for victory.

Tournament “The Future Depends on You” is held for the 18th time. 2,000 children from 130 orphanages and boarding schools take part in it. After the Moscow stage, the competition will be held in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok and Krasnodar, and the final games will be held May 15-20 in Sochi. There is something to compete for: the main prize is a trip to the football summer camp of the FC Barcelona Academy, where the guys will be trained according to the methodology of this club.

Over the years of the program “The Future Depends on You”, more than 40 thousand children took part in the tournaments – 5 thousand teams from 140 cities of Russia. With its help, many pupils of orphanages and boarding schools not only found new friends, received unforgettable impressions and emotions: for 903 children, participation in the competitions became a life-changing event – they found a new family. According to the organizers of the tournament, the decision to adopt a child or teenager was made by the future parents with the help of the program “The Future Depends on You”. By the way, not only boys, but also girls take part in the tournament.

The program, launched in 2005 by employees of the Megafon company from St. Petersburg, already in 2009 reached the federal level and is now supported by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education of Russia and the Russian Football Union.

In addition to competitions, master classes with sports journalists are held for children. Tournament participants learn commentary, photo and video journalism, video blogging. The SkillCity city of skills career guidance program will also be held for them as part of the career guidance and cybersocialization project of the SkillCity City of Skills reference and gaming service. The acquired skills and knowledge will be useful in everyday life, and perhaps for someone they will determine the direction of their future professional activity.
