Today, February 7, Sochi celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Winter Olympic Games. As part of the celebration, the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and the head of the Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratyev awarded the first prize-winners of the Winter Youth Spartakiad of Russian students.
These are the winners of the freestyle moguls competition, reports administration of the Krasnodar region.
Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized that the young athletes competed on the track, which was built for the Games ten years ago.
“And there is nothing more exciting than watching young athletes who set new records here,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
The moment for the development of ski infrastructure in Sochi was the decision to hold the Olympics and Paralympics in Sochi, which was made in July 2007. According to Veniamin Kondratyev, new sports facilities continue to be built in the Krasnodar Territory. This is a gymnastics palace, and a sambo and judo palace.
“This is a great reason to once again thank Vladimir Putin for the fact that our region has become a center for the development of winter sports, a point of attraction for world events,” emphasized Veniamin Kondratyev.
Today, Sochi hosts about 40 sports and cultural events dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the Olympic Games.
