The first Soviet conqueror of Everest, Eduard Myslovsky, has died

The Russian Mountaineering Federation announced the death at the age of 86 of the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Trainer of the USSR, holder of the Snow Leopard title, the first Soviet conqueror of Everest, Eduard Myslovsky.
He began mountaineering in the mid-50s of the last century. In 1961 he graduated from the All-Union School of Instructors in Dzhantugan, and was a repeated champion of the USSR as part of the Burevestnik team.
Until 1982, he made 11 ascents to all the highest peaks of the USSR, and in the spring of 1982, together with Vladimir Balyberdin, he became a participant in the First Soviet Himalayan expedition to climb Everest.
In 1989, as part of the Second Soviet Himalayan Expedition, he climbed Kanchenjunga.
