Chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov said that it is necessary to revise the Criminal Code and “slightly soften” economic and “some other” articles. He said this in a conversation with Interfax.
“We constantly look at the Criminal Code, but I’m afraid that we are looking at specific norms, but we should look at it and analyze it in general. It seems to me that something can be softened a little, I don’t want to say, liberalized. I think this should be done,” said Mr. Krasheninnikov. He also noted that President Vladimir Putin, during the “Results of the Year” on December 14, stated that he would re-read the Criminal Code in order to consider the issue of softening a number of articles.

For Alexandra Bayazitova, who suffers from chronic diseases, including diabetes and hypertension, the prosecution asked for 14 years in prison.
