The selection of cosmonauts to the Russian orbital station (ROS) will be held for the first time in 2023-2024, said TASS press service of the Cosmonaut Training Center. Yu. A. Gagarina (TsPK, part of Roscosmos).
In addition, active cosmonauts of Roscosmos will take part in flights to the ROS, the CTC specified.
On the plans of the Russian authorities to create a national space station was announced in the closed part of the meeting on the development of the space industry, which was held by President Vladimir Putin in April 2021. At the meeting, it was decided to warn ISS partners about withdrawing from the project from 2025. It was planned that ROS should earn by the end of the ISS operation.
As ROS Chief Designer Vladimir Kozhevnikov previously told the agency, the launch date for the first scientific and energy module of the station is the end of 2027. The remaining ROS modules are planned to be launched in 2028-2030.
