The Angara-A5 launch vehicle weighs 761 tons when fueled. Runs on oxygen-kerosene fuel. The Orion upper stage is designed to fire the engine five times to deliver the satellite into the desired orbit. The main task of the “Angara” will become participation in the construction of the Russian orbital station. The heavy rocket will deliver materials and other cargo to the site.
Roscosmos plans that Angara will deliver all the working modules of the future station into orbit, the first of which will be sent in 2027. This will be an energy module. The second flight will deliver the gateway and hub modules into orbit. And in 2029, the base module will be delivered to the station. At this point, the first stage of construction of the orbital station will be completed.
