The first launch of the Angara-A5 launch vehicle from the Vostochny Cosmodrome is scheduled for April 9, the story says. “Roscosmos TV” on YouTube. The launch is planned to be carried out with the Orion upper stage and payload. Previously, the state corporation reported that the rocket had already been transported to the launch complex.
The Roscosmos TV story does not provide any other details. On March 26, Roscosmos reported that the first launch of the rocket would take place from April 6 to April 10. At the same time, the state corporation explained that the rocket was transported to the launch complex after successfully passing tests at the technical site of the cosmodrome.
Initially, the first launch of Angara-A5 was planned for December 2023, but then it was postponed to the first quarter of 2024. The launch vehicle is expected to replace the Proton-M rockets and become part of the Amur space rocket complex.
Angara-A5 belongs to the family of Russian modular launch vehicles. They are created on the basis of universal rocket modules with oxygen-kerosene engines. Angara-A5 can launch from 3 to 7.5 tons of payload into orbit. Other missiles of the same family – Angara-A5B – are capable of launching up to 38 tons.
