The joint commission of the Russian Football Union and the Russian Premier League conducted an inspection at the Moscow stadium “Luzhniki” and found its field unsuitable for the next match “Torpedo” – “Ural”, informed Sports day by day.
Later, the RPL reported that the Moscow club asked to transfer the meeting with the Urals to the Khimki Arena due to the insufficient readiness of the Luzhniki lawn. In “Khimki” they said they were not against receiving guests at their stadium. In the “Torpedo” also expressed the hope that the next game will be able to hold already in the “Luzhniki”.
Sports.ru writesthat “one of the possible reasons” for the unsatisfactory state of the field is the rally-concert held here on February 22. The publication notes that “it turned out on a large scale – the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that 200 thousand people“.
“People were both on the arena itself and outside it,” writes the site. “Massive structures were mounted on the field, participants were also actively moving across the lawn.”
How notes “Sport-Express”, in the press service of “Luzhniki” refused to comment on the postponement of the match in Khimki: “It is better to contact the RPL for comments.”
