The Federation Council from the DPR and LPR will include two senators from each republic, from the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions initially – one senator each. After the formation of the legislative bodies of the subjects of the regions – one more senator, said the head of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov. Earlier it became known that parliamentary elections in the new subjects of Russia will be held in September 2023 on a single voting day.
Today earlier the State Duma ratified agreements on joining the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions into Russia, which gives the right to residents of these regions to obtain Russian citizenship “with all the rights provided.”
From 23 to 27 September, referendums were held on the inclusion of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation. Following the results of the voting, in which more than 87% of voters voted “for”, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an agreement on the entry of these territories into the Russian Federation. The DPR and LPR will be included in Russia within the borders of 2014, along the borders of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, “they will continue to consult with the population of these regions.”
