Switzerland did not support the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine

Switzerland has rejected Kyiv’s request to hand over frozen Russian assets to it. This was stated by the press secretary of the Swiss Ministry of Economy Fabian Mayenfisch.
“For the Swiss government, confiscation of assets solely on the basis of belonging to any state or being on the sanctions list and using them to restore Ukraine is currently not an option to support Ukraine,” a ministry spokesman said.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky previously urged Switzerland to block Russian assets and transfer them to Ukraine. According to him, he would like Switzerland to block Russian assets and Ukraine would receive them “as compensation.”
Recall that by the beginning of July, Switzerland had blocked Russian assets totaling about $6.8 billion due to sanctions.
