Yalta Villa Rotaru may be nationalized and given over to the Wedding Palace

The villa of singer Sofia Rotaru in Yalta may be nationalized and the building transferred to the Wedding Palace. This proposal was voiced by senator from the Republic of Crimea, member of the international committee of the Federation Council Sergei Tsekov.

The reason for the possible actions was Rotaru’s anti-Russian position.

Earlier, the Presidium of the Russian Community of Crimea proposed to deprive her of the title “Honorary Citizen of Yalta.” Head of Administration Yanina Pavlenko supported the initiative and launched a corresponding survey in her Telegram channel. Since Monday evening, 80% of respondents were in favor of depriving Rotaru of the honorary title. More than two thousand people took part in the survey.

Tsekov in conversation with RIA News stated that Sofia Rotaru was anti-Russian and allowed herself many statements, thereby helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

“She has no right to bear the title of honorary citizen of Yalta. In addition, I believe that it is also necessary to nationalize her villa, which stands on the Yalta embankment,” said the Crimean senator.

He noted that the local Wedding Palace needs new premises, and the Rotaru mansion is suitable for these purposes.
