The Federation Council explained the cancellation of declarations for parliamentarians by the desire to “inform enemies less”

On January 23, the State Duma supported a bill allowing deputies and senators not to publish their income and property declarations. Member of the Federation Council (SF) Alexander Bashkin explained the need for such a measure by preventing declarations from falling into the hands of our “enemies”.
“The filing of declarations so that they can be seen by the competent authorities that evaluate activities, including financial ones, will continue. We are talking about publishing, since this publication becomes the property of not only the citizens of the Russian Federation, but of the whole world, including falling into the hands of those who really take a hostile position, impose sanctions, announce (parliamentarians.— “b”) on the wanted list,” said the senator “RIA News”. He noted that he had not yet read the text of the amendments to the draft law, which would cancel declarations.
Alexander Bashkin believes that the abolition of public declaration of income is a “temporary measure.” The parliamentarian called the accusation of senators and deputies of criminal offenses by “opponents of Russia” a violation of Russian law. “Therefore, as I understand it, for this period, it was probably decided to inform our enemies less,” he concluded.
Deputy Pavel Krasheninnikov declared “Kommersant” that the abolition of the public declaration of the property of parliamentarians is needed to “protect personal data.” It can be legislated through a package of amendments to bill about public authority.
