The Federation Council exempted the participants of the special operation from the fee for the replacement of a passport and a driver’s license

Federation Council approved law, according to which participants in the military operation in Ukraine are exempted from paying state duty when replacing a lost or damaged Russian passport or driver’s license. These changes will be made to the Tax Code.

The authors of the law were a group of senators. The explanatory note noted that this measure would reduce the financial burden on the participants in the military operation. The senators pointed out that military personnel may lose their passports or driver’s licenses when participating in a military operation in Ukraine, as well as being transported to hospitals due to injuries or illnesses received while performing combat missions.

The need to release the participants of the military operation from the state duty for the loss of documents in April was pointed out by the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. “In military hospitals, doctors are engaged in the restoration of documents of the wounded – lost, burned, missing in the trenches, and so on. Not only that, again, a lengthy bureaucratic procedure, you have to prove that you lost your passport or driving license in the trenches. And still pay a fee. But the wounded man is in the hospital, he cannot pay for it,” she said at a meeting of the council of legislators.

May 17 Andrey Turchak informedthat the working group headed by him on the military operation in Ukraine developed a single standard for regional support measures for combatants and their families. In particular, it is proposed to provide military personnel with benefits for paying transport tax and exempt them from paying for kindergartens. The families of the participants in the operation are also planning to provide benefits for paying utility bills.
