The Federation Council unanimously adopted a law restricting the use of phones and other gadgets with SIM cards in the classroom. The normative act also establishes the right of teachers to protection from violence and insults. 157 senators supported its adoption.
It is noted that the innovations will be spelled out in the Law “On Education”. After its adoption, phones will be able to be used only in emergency situations.
On December 6, the Duma adopted amendments banning the use of gadgets and tablets with SIM cards by students in the classroom, even for educational purposes. According to the authors, the implementation of the measure will help reduce the factors of “distraction” for children.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education Yana Lantratova stated that such an initiative is aimed at reducing the number of conflicts between students and teachers. In addition, this ban will protect the rights and status of teachers, the politician noted.
