Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Tax Service in Moscow will check the business of the Latvian singer Laima Vaikule. The inspection will take place until mid-November, they said. TASS in law enforcement agencies.

The verification of the singer’s assets began after the Head of the Federal Project on Security and Anti-Corruption, Vitaly Borodin, contacted the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. In his Telegram channel On September 3, he reported that he had prepared a number of appeals after learning about a concert held by Laima Vaikule in Jurmala, the proceeds from which went to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Earlier, Vitaly Borodin asked the Ministry of Justice to recognize the singer as a foreign agent because of her statements in support of Ukraine.

In the appeal, Mr. Borodin stated that Laima Vaikule continues to earn money in Russia, having assets in Moscow through her Latvian legal entity. The public figure asked to check the singer’s possible assets, and also to consider the issue of excluding the company “Lima-Lux Rus” from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, through which Ms. Vaikule can receive income.

After the start of the special operation, Laima Vaikule publicly condemned the state’s military actions in Ukraine. At her concerts and interviews, the singer has repeatedly spoken out in support of Ukraine.

The singer’s main asset in Russia was her share in the Latvian company LAIMALUKSS LATVIA, which sells professional hair cosmetics, furniture and equipment for beauty salons. In 2022, the company documented revenue of 327.3 million rubles. The company’s official website states that in August 2022, Ms. Vaikule transferred her share of participation in the company Laima-Lux RUS LLC to the main founder and participant Shiraz Mamedov. In one of her interviews, the singer stated that together with her partner it was decided that in the interests of business she “needed to leave the company.”

According to Vitaly Borodin, Laima Vaikule’s exit from the company was formal, and the singer herself continues to receive money. In his Telegram channel a public figure addressed the singer, saying that as soon as her involvement in the business is proven, her accounts will be seized, and “the business will be completely paralyzed on the territory of the Russian Federation.”
