The father of onboard technician Sergei Zhitenev, who died in the Il-76 crash, Nikolai, told reporters about his son. According to him, Sergei died immediately after the birthday of his wife Anastasia.
“Seryozha was a well-mannered, purposeful, friendly guy. Almost the entire village knew him. He graduated from Orenburg State University, aerospace department with honors,” said Nikolai Zhitenev.
On the eve of departure, January 20, Sergei congratulated his wife on her birthday remotely. He himself was on a mission far from Orenburg, where his wife and son Yaroslav live.
My father read the news about the downed plane on the Internet. He immediately started calling his son – the beeps were ringing, but there was no answer. Nikolai also said that his son’s body has not yet been handed over to the family. They offered to bury Sergei in Moscow, but Nikolai refused – according to him, Sergei will be buried in his small homeland, in Saraktash.
The Ministry of Defense previously reported that the plane crashed as a result of an attack on it by the Ukrainian air defense system. There were 65 Ukrainian prisoners on board who were being transported for exchange.
