Residents of the Irkutsk region complain about a multiple increase in prices for items of equipment, in particular for armored helmets and bulletproof vests, said Alexander Kulish, head of the regional department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS). According to him, there is a rush demand for items of military equipment in regional stores.
Mr. Kulish said that demand grew against the backdrop of partial mobilization announced in Russia. “The ongoing mobilization has caused a rush of demand, and in fact the most sought-after range of goods has been washed off the shelves of these stores. Nevertheless, some part of the goods is present, ”the head of the FAS department specified (TASS quote).
Speaking about the complaints received about the increase in the cost of items of equipment, Alexander Kulish assured that in most cases we are talking about an increase in prices for goods on classifieds sites. On these sites, in his opinion, “the most enterprising citizens are trying to capitalize on this situation.” “Unfortunately, we have no right to influence the actions of these persons from the point of view of antimonopoly law,” he added.
Partial mobilization has been carried out in Russia since September 21 by decree of Vladimir Putin. The government of the Irkutsk region promised that the mobilized would be given backpacks, tactical gloves, rubber boots with liners, sleeping bags and other necessary items free of charge. The governor of the Irkutsk region, Igor Kobzev, also ordered a one-time payment of 100 thousand rubles to the mobilized.
After the announcement of mobilization, those drafted in some regions complained about problems with equipment. Some regions began to buy her on her own. Also, some regional authorities began to announce the cancellation of New Year’s events. Ministry of Defense thinks this measure is premature and unnecessary.
