Before the sales season in Russia, you should be prepared for scammers to become more active, Alla Khrapunova, curator of the Popular Front platform “Moshelovka”, expert of the project “For Borrowers’ Rights”, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
She noted that they often try to cash in on offers such as big discounts on hotel bookings and a new iPhone model.
She also noted that attackers will once again try to deceive their victims under the pretext of benefits and compensation from the state, for example, vouchers to a sanatorium, free medicines, etc.
“This is how scammers try to take over the personal information of Russians in order to use it for criminal purposes,” Khrapunova said. She also said that phishing links disguised as online shopping sites promising big discounts will be actively used.
In addition, she warned about offers to undergo free procedures in aesthetic medicine clinics and beauty salons, from which clients leave with credit agreements for a list of services or suitcases with cosmetics.
