Rapid battery consumption on a smartphone can be a warning sign, expert Mikhail Shurygin said in an interview with RT.
According to him, this may indicate that the phone was hacked by attackers and malicious software was installed on it, which consumes the charge.
“If nothing has changed in the way the device is used, but its charge begins to drain suspiciously quickly, this may be a sign of installed malware,” he said. According to Shurygin, to check this version you need to look in the battery usage menu to see what applications are running, and most often the malware is named as a combination of letters or numbers.
Another sign of malware may be a sudden loud noise on the phone, applications launching on their own, and shutting down.
“You can track such programs in the device’s cellular settings. If malware is installed, third parties can gain access to the device’s settings,” the expert said, noting that in this case the attacker can change all the phone’s settings.
He recommended using anti-virus programs, periodically changing passwords and PIN codes, and updating the operating system.
