You can extend the life of a laptop, for example, by avoiding mistakes that reduce battery life, said Vitaly Dubynin, manager of portable equipment at MegaFon.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, he pointed out that if you keep the laptop constantly plugged in, after about a year the battery capacity will begin to fall. He noted that battery life is affected by the number of charge and discharge cycles, voltage level and high temperatures.
Constantly charging the laptop, he called a mistake, as it exposes the laptop to constant exposure to heat.
“The study showed that if you store a battery constantly charged at 100% at temperatures above 30 degrees for one year, then the maximum battery capacity will drop to 65%,” the expert said. This primarily applies to new laptops with lithium-polymer batteries. It is worth remembering that batteries have a limited number of charge cycles before the expected decrease in their performance.
“The best option is to charge the device when at least 10% of the charge remains, charge it to 100% and immediately disconnect it from the network,” he said.
The expert also recommended that when storing the product for a long time without use, remove the battery and place it in a cool place.
