A method of deceiving Russians under the guise of employees of the Federal Tax Service has been revealed
Currently, a new method of fraud is being detected – attackers, posing as employees of the tax service, are trying to get as much information as possible from Russians to use for personal gain, Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov said in an interview with the Prime agency.
So, according to the lawyer, scammers send letters demanding “to undergo additional verification” and also to transfer financial information to them, including documents – cash receipts, invoices, invoices, acceptance certificates, and so on. To do this, the attackers insist on talking with a specially authorized “inspector.”
If a potential victim refuses to communicate, scammers threaten to block his accounts.
Soloviev pointed out that the fraudsters’ calculation is that it is easier for the victim to send documents electronically rather than waste time on a visit to the inspector.
The expert emphasized that tax officials never send out such statements and do not communicate with Russians by phone.
