Alexey Lyutochkin, deputy general director of ADS Liftservice, told RIA Novosti about the signs that indicate a potentially dangerous elevator. He noted that sharp jerks and grinding at the beginning of the movement, electrical problems and damage to the skin are signs that residents of the house should pay attention to.
According to him, one of the signs is a sudden start or stop of the elevator car, accompanied by a loud third-party noise or “turbulence” effect, when the elevator first fails and then emerges. This may be due to a faulty winch responsible for the movement of the cab.
The second important point is the malfunction of the electrician. Its presence can be determined by problems with the elevator lighting, the smell of burning, non-working buttons and uneven opening of doors, the expert added.
He also recommends looking for damage to the elevator, such as holes in the floor, walls, and roof of the car, as well as dents and external openings. These malfunctions are especially dangerous for children, who may show excessive curiosity.
And if the cabin, when called, comes to another floor, then in this case it is worth refraining from using it, Lyutochkin added, recalling that if signs of a potential danger are found, it is necessary to report this to the telephone numbers indicated on a special plate. If the problem is ignored, it is recommended to contact the regional State Housing Inspectorate or Rostekhnadzor.
