19 days is normal
Oleg Artemyev, the most experienced pilot-cosmonaut, got into an unpleasant road accident less than a month after returning from a space expedition. We asked the experts if he could drive at all? Recall: the night before, Artemyev knocked down a pedestrian in the village of Sverdlovsky, Moscow Region.
According to one of the employees of the CPC, the accident occurred 19 days after the return of Artemyev and his colleagues to Earth (they landed on September 29). By this time, all recovery, post-flight activities had already been completed. There are no regulated prohibitions on driving a motor vehicle after such a time. Specialists, as a rule, allow astronauts to get behind the wheel, if they do not have serious health problems, and they successfully complete special tests. For example, NASA astronauts can drive a car 10-14 days after landing.
Artemiev’s colleagues also noted that Oleg Germanovich is an experienced, responsible person, a professional in his field. They consider the incident an unfortunate accident.
