Climate change is forcing Russians to move to less hot places
Climate migration began in Russia. RIA Novosti was warned about this by climatologist Alexei Kokorin. He said that quite a lot of people began to take into account climate change when choosing a place to live.
According to the expert, those who previously left to work in Chukotka moved to the Krasnodar Territory after retirement. In recent years, they have been trying to go to the south of Siberia – to the Novosibirsk or Omsk regions, because it is too hot for them in the Kuban. That is, people choose their place of residence based on climate change.
Kokorin also noted that now the air in the Krasnodar Territory can heat up to 40 degrees and above. This, according to the expert, may have a negative impact on older people who have lived in the north for many years.
Earlier, the UN World Meteorological Organization predicted that over the next five years, global temperatures could break records.
If the negative trend continues, then according to experts, by the end of the century, in a favorable scenario, every tenth inhabitant of the planet can become a climate migrant. And in the worst scenario – 30 percent of the inhabitants of the Earth.
