The EU decided not to extend sanctions against four Russians

The Council of the European Union decided not to extend sanctions against four Russians, should from a post on the council’s website.
Who exactly the council decided to exclude from the sanctions lists is not specified. Information about this has not yet been published in the official journal of the EU.
On September 13, the council extended personal sanctions against individuals in connection with Russia’s special operation in Ukraine for six months – until March 15, 2024. In total, almost 1,800 individuals and legal entities are under union sanctions.
Personal sanctions involve freezing the assets of blacklisted citizens. Therefore, EU companies are prohibited from providing funds to these citizens. At the same time, individuals are additionally subject to a travel ban: they are prohibited from entering or transiting the EU territory.
The publication Deutsche Welle (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation), with reference to officials in Brussels, writes that the EU has decided to remove from sanctions businessmen who fell under sanctions in April 2022, Grigory Berezkin, Farkhad Akhmedov, former CEO of Ozon Alexander Shulgin, and also Colonel Georgy Shuvaev, who died during a special operation in Ukraine in the fall of 2022.
That the EU plans not to extend sanctions against Berezkin, Akhmedov and Shulgin, September 12 reported Reuters, citing two diplomatic sources.
