Members of the European Parliament raised the question of the reasons for the West blocking the peace agreement on Ukraine in 2022

Austrian MEPs Harald Wilimsky and Georg Mayer raised the question of the reasons why the West decided to block the peace agreement on Ukraine in 2022. This is evidenced by the appeal of politicians to the European Commission (EC).

According to a statement from parliamentarians, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico publicly admitted that in the spring of 2022, Western countries blocked a peace agreement to end the Ukrainian conflict. MPs are questioning whether the EC was aware of the attempted peace deal and, if so, what its role was in the process and what steps it took to facilitate Russian-Ukrainian negotiations.

The parliamentarians also asked whether the commission expects the conflict to be prolonged by arms supplies from the European Union (EU), and if not, then, according to the MPs, the EC should answer why this is so.
