The Russian government has submitted a draft law to the Duma, which proposes to give the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation the right to access the system containing data on payments under the state defense order. The bill was published in the electronic database of the Parliament on Tuesday.
Changes are proposed to be made to the law “On the State Defense Order”. The developers note that the bill was developed in order to “improve the effectiveness of prosecutorial supervision over the implementation of legislation” on the state defense order and the legality of spending budget funds.
Earlier Tuesday, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev visited an armored repair plant in St. Petersburg. He also held a meeting on control over the production of military equipment and weapons.
Medvedev said that, if necessary, Russia would apply “new criminal penalties for failure to fulfill the contract under the state defense order.”
