The government has submitted a bill to the State Duma, which proposes to give the Prosecutor General’s Office the right to access the system containing information on payments under the state defense order. The corresponding document was published in the electronic database of the lower chamber.
The explanatory note notes that the document was developed in order to “improve the effectiveness of prosecutorial supervision over the implementation of legislation” on the state defense order, as well as the legality of spending budget funds.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev earlier today recalled the criminal liability for the failure of the state defense order, and also threatened with punishment for repeated violations. “In this situation, I also want to remind you that no one has canceled responsibility, and the responsibility of the plants themselves, and disciplinary responsibility for the management,” he said.
In September 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law providing for punishment of up to 10 years in prison for violating the terms of the state defense order. Medvedev clarified that these sanctions have not yet been applied, but if necessary, the authorities will be forced to resort to them.
