Medvedev recalled the criminal punishment for the failure of the state defense order

Dmitry Medvedev, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Military-Industrial Commission and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, visited an armored repair plant in St. Petersburg on January 10 and held a meeting on control over the production of military equipment and weapons. There, he recalled the criminal liability for disrupting the state defense order, and also threatened with punishment for repeated violations.

“In this situation, I also want to remind you that no one has canceled responsibility, and the responsibility of the plants themselves, and disciplinary responsibility for the management, and in case of repeated violations, let me remind you that special criminal punishment has been introduced in accordance with a number of articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” said the first deputy chairman of the military-industrial commission of Russia.

In September 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law providing for punishment of up to 10 years in prison for violating the terms of the state defense order. Medvedev clarified that these sanctions have not yet been applied, but if necessary, the authorities will be forced to resort to them.

The main topic of the meeting, Medvedev designated the production, repair and supply of tanks. He drew attention to reports of enemy plans to finance the modernization of 100 T-72 tanks. Medvedev stressed that Russian defense enterprises must act “faster, more persistently and more efficiently.”

During a visit to the plant in St. Petersburg, the deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation also announced the creation of a working group of a commission to control the production of popular types of weapons, military, special equipment, weapons, combat equipment and clothing.
